Benefits of Veganism
Veganism is a way of living that seeks to abstain - as much as possible - from the use of animal products. Those who follow this particular diet don’t eat any kind of animal products or animal by-products.
The main reasons why people choose to follow a vegan diet are due to improving their health, saving animal lives and helping the planet.
How To Start A Vegan Diet
As a Weight Loss Specialist who believes in improving people’s lifestyle with a consistent, healthy diet I must say this is one of those choices and changes you gradually have to implement into your life and daily habits. I certainly wouldn’t suggest changing from one day to another going from a regular diet to a dairy-free, meat-free diet.
For you to create a new routine - which I also write about in my Ebook - you have to be consistent with your new habits for 21 days at least. Then those new habits eventually turn into routine. So for you to be able to achieve this, you can start off with replacing your snacks with healthy, vegan snacks made with natural ingredients. I believe by starting with that you will realise that you don’t actually have to give up on certain ingredients, you only have to make sure you find the perfect replacements.
The Best Ingredients For Vegan Snacks
I love using coconut oil when I bake vegan cakes and snacks. You can find them packed in a jar, they’re quite solid and thick but that’s why you don’t need to use a lot to make your vegan snacks light and moist. Make sure you measure the right amount in a mug and heat it up in the microwave to make it runny before you add it to your dry ingredients.
Unsweetened Almond Milk
I don’t only love the taste of unsweetened almond milk but if you want to make a low calorie, vegan cake or snack you can save a few calories by using this ingredient.
In case you want to improve the texture of your vegan snacks and add more moist to them, I would recommend adding plant-based yoghurt to your recipes. I am a bit more flexible with this as I don’t use the whole tub for baking, I love adding some cocoa powder and sweetener or fresh fruits and nuts to them to consume them later on. So I normally get either almond, soy or coconut yoghurt.
The king of fluffy, vegan snacks! Perfect egg replacement which you can beat with a hand mixer and bring it to a gorgeous fluffy state just like you would do with the egg whites. The only downside of it for those who love baking a lot is that you will also have to have loads of chickpea recipes on the side to be able to use up everything from the can!
Egg Replacement In Vegan Meals
Next step for you to follow a pure vegan diet is to start replacing other animal by-products such as egg and dairy. Especially, when you love having your freshly made scrambled eggs in the morning it’s hard to imagine life with that, right?
The most popular ingredient which you can replace eggs with is tofu. Light and moist, easy to handle and to make different dishes with it. You can easily mash it up in a bowl and fry it on hot oil for a couple of minutes just like you would do it with a regular egg. Season it as you like with a bit of salt and pepper. I like to add a bit of turmeric to it as well so the colour also matches scrambled egg.
Commitment To Veganism
Throughout the process you’ll realise there are many options for you to replace any kind of ingredients with vegan options. Although, I have to say nowadays meat replacements aren’t the healthiest options you can find. They’re all processed and not too beneficial in case you want to become vegan to live a healthier lifestyle. Of course, there are some days where you can treat yourself just like I do with takeaways - probably your choice will be vegan meat and bacon? - to also have a balanced lifestyle but I would definitely consume it with moderation.
